About MLDI Guides
MLDI (Medicolegal Death Investigation) Guides is an independent education platform built on more than a decade of real-world medicolegal death investigation experience across multiple states and both Medical Examiner and Coroner systems. It was created to close the gap between foundational training and the practical realities death investigators face in the field.
We understand much of what makes a competent investigator is not captured in policy manuals or classroom instruction. It is developed through exposure to real cases, observation, repetition, and the accumulation of judgment that only comes with time. MLDI Guides focuses on these practical, experience-driven elements of the profession and seeks to provide that perspective to better prepare all investigators.
Our materials emphasize real-world application, including scene assessment, documentation practices, investigative thinking, and case specific considerations. Each resource is designed to reinforce strong habits, support professional development, and encourage thoughtful investigative decision-making.
Because every jurisdiction operates differently, the information provided is adaptable and meant to support—not replace—local policy and procedure.
